Volunteers are an integral component of the Transplant Center and can assist in a variety of ways! Interested in Sharing Your Story? Patients and families are often the most effective ambassadors for promoting the need, the value, and the benefit of organ donation. Patients and families, with their authentic, compelling stories can help people understand transplantation not just on an intellectual level - but on a heart level as well. There are several opportunities, formal and informal, throughout each year to become involved in educating the public about the need for organs. Examples would include (but are not limited to): assisting at a booth selling tee shirts or distributing information during National Organ Transplant Donor Awareness Week (NOTDAW); speaking at local schools or churches regarding transplant and organ donation; assisting in fund raising or development events.

Many hands are needed to plan and implement any event. The list of activities that require volunteers include the planning, the scheduling, mailings, telephone calls, running errands, preparing fliers, keeping records, setting up for the event, coordinating the volunteers, ticket control, closing down the event, and any number of other activities related to the specific event.
